ROMANCE JUNKIES
Aristos Petrakos never thought he would get another chance with the love of his life. When Juliana Tiandes returns, he gets his second chance. There’s just one problem. She’s been dead for over a hundred years.
Aristos “Ari” Petrakos hasn’t quite come to grips with his new powers that he’s inherited from his brother, River Kassandros. His emotional state is very fragile so when he is summoned to his former lover’s home, the last thing he expected was to see her ghost. Yet here is Juliana’s ghost wondering why Ari never returned for her. He can’t understand why she can’t remember that she left him by dying after he showed his true nature. When she returns in the flesh, he is dumbfounded but after being assured that she isn’t a demon, Ari and Juliana see this as their second chance. However, there are those who wonder if Juliana’s return is a sign of something more sinister.
RED DEMON continues the adventures of the infamous Spartans. Ari lost his love years ago but he gets a second chance when Juliana returns. Although wary, he doesn’t want to lose her again. He is quick to emotions but it’s part of his character and not a liabilty. Juliana naively makes a bargain to return to Ari but never expected it to impact so many lives. She just wanted to return to him but will fight to stay with him with everything she has. I really liked how Ms. Knight tied up several subplots while opening up others. The secondary love story was so beautiful that I had to grab Kleenex because it was so emotionally draining. I am so hoping that one particular couple will get their happy ending soon. RED DEMON is a wonderful addition to the GODS OF MIDNIGHT series and I hope that another installment isn’t far away. -- Ann
SCI FI ROMANCE WRITERS
Gods, demons, Spartans, Djinn, and humans combine in an unbelievable adventure of true love! Ms. Knight blends these disparate elements into a suspenseful, roller coaster ride of a story. This newest addition to her Gods of Midnight series will delight fans.
Aristos Petrakos has always kept his feelings to himself. He doesn’t dwell on the fact that twenty-five hundred years ago he was granted immortal life in order to battle demons or on the new powers he acquired as a demigod when his best friend, River, wanted to become mortal. He doesn’t talk about his fears or his lost love. That is until his lost love returns and demands that he speak to her.
Julianna Tiades drowned in a hurricane when she learned the secret of who Aristos really was. Aristos believes that Julianna killed herself rather than be with a man who can shapeshift. Now, over a hundred years later, she is contacting him through a psychic and friend in order to tell him the truth about how she died and to rekindle their love. To make him listen to her, Julianna agrees to a bargain with the Djinn that results in a threat to the man that she loves.
Ms. Knight has created a series that blends so many different elements. Her talent as a writer allows her to keep all of the elements flowing and to bring them together into a cohesive whole. This story is about more than just the romance between Ari and Julianna. It also encompasses the tale of Eros and his need to please his father and feel a father’s love as well as the story of Nikos and Mason and their denial of their feelings for each other. Ms. Knight tells the tale of love in all its many forms.
The suspense in this book made it almost impossible for me to patiently read through each page. I found myself needing to know how Julianna was going to break her bargain with the Djinn and whether or not she could work things out with Ari. I wanted to find out sooner rather than later if Ari would forgive her and if the power of their love would transcend the curse and death. I had to force myself to read slowly and am so glad that I did. The beauty of Ms. Knight’s writing would have been lost to me if I had raced through the story as much as I wanted to. The story culminates in a soul-satisfying ending that made me give a sigh of contentment.
If you have read the other books in this series, then you will love this one as well. Although this book can be read out of order and enjoyed, the experience will be so much richer if you begin with the first book. There is a lot of background and context provided through the first two books in the series that adds to the understanding of this story. --Leah
