TWO LIPS REVIEWS
River Kassandros is an immortal warrior. Formed in the river Styx he has been a weapon for good since then. He has the ability to shape-shift into any weapon his fellow Spartans need. He has been trapped, though, in his last form, a dagger. He was in the form longer than he should have been and now cannot get back to his human form. To top it all off, the enemy got hold of him and threw him into the ocean. With no hope to ever be human again he feels he is dying, slowly fading. Then a human hears his cries for help. Emma Lowery is a listener. She hears people, usually on the other side. She hears River’s pleas. She rescues him. Only to find that the god of war Ares has sent demons after River. River is more than even he knows and Ares intends to use it against his Spartan brothers and destroy them all once and for all. Emma finds herself in the middle of a battle between good, evil and the love of a lifetime.
RED KISS is the second book in the Gods of Midnight series. Deidre Knight brings the best novel yet in RED KISS. River has a curse that makes him a servant for eternity. He is a shape shifter that turns only into weapons to be used by other people. Since he was a servant before to the Spartans he feels always inadequate when he is with his Spartan brothers. Emma has to battle this inferiority complex in River to get her love known to him. She is a strong woman and has to be to take on Ares and River together. There are characters from book one in this novel but it can be read alone and enjoyed completely. I highly recommend reading the novels in order because they are all memorable reads everyone should own. I know I for one am looking forward to the next installment to the Gods of Midnight novels. RED KISS is a must read for any romantic at heart and one for the keeper shelf!

DARQUE REVIEWS
Emma Lowery and her best friend Evan were planning to spend the night camping on Little Tybee Island, but soon after arriving he got a message and left in a hurry. Alone on the uninhabited island, with a storm approaching, Emma calls out her fears to the rolling waves and is surprised to get an answer. The voice, weak as it is, needs her help and despite her worries over the growing storm she’ll do all she can to give it. Saving River from his watery grave could be what saves her own life, because something evil now has Emma in its sights.
River Kassandros was born a slave among the Spartans, and continued that role after his immortal transformation as a weapon. Meeting Emma makes him wish he were a free man, worthy of her love, but the god who cursed him and granted him his immortal life definitely has plans of his own.
This is the second novel in the Gods of Midnight series and centers around River and Emma. Ms. Knight takes readers on a fast-moving rollercoaster ride of action and emotion. RED KISS breathes life into some of history’s most amazing men, gives them new purpose, and spins a captivating web of honor, deceit, and the overwhelming power of love. River manages to not only capture the reader’s attention, but to capture their hearts as well. I’d recommend RED KISS to fans of the Gods of Midnight series, and to those paranormal romance readers who love their heroes strong, sexy, and clueless to their appeal. I’ll be eagerly awaiting the next installment.

FALLEN ANGEL REVIEWS
Twenty-five hundred years ago, these warriors made a pledge to become immortal but for a price. These books are their stories. RED KISS is the next book in the Gods of Midnight series. This series is about seven Spartan warriors, who are immortal and have formed a brotherhood.
River Kassandros is a fierce Spartan warrior who happens to be a slave. He serves his master well in battle. River has the ability to transform himself into any weapon, when the need arises. Usually though River only stays in his weapon format for about half an hour to an hour max. River now finds himself stuck as a dagger. He has been living as a dagger for days. The longer River stays as a dagger, the weaker he becomes. His only hope lies in the form of a beautiful woman named Emma.
Emma Lowery and her friend were out camping, when Emma hears a voice calling her. Emma rescues and frees River but by doing so, River and she now share a blood bond that is stronger and more powerful than anything River has ever experienced. Together Emma and River will battle Ares as he tries to gain ultimate control.
I have really grown to enjoy this series. That is saying a lot as RED KISS is only the second book in the series. The women are strong and the men are hot! Deidre Knight really knows how to steam up a cold night. What I loved about River besides his body is that even though many consider him to be a great warrior, he is humble about it. In fact in his eyes, he sees himself as a slave and unworthy of Emma's love. Emma is the perfect woman for River. She stands by his side. This book not only has a good storyline, great characters, and romance but it also has lots of action to keep me satisfied and coming back for more.

PARANORMAL ROMANCE WRITERS
Ms. Knight’s newest book in her Gods of Midnight series picks up where the other one left off. In this unique series, 7 Spartan warriors were given the opportunity to postpone the afterlife for immortality and the chance to battle evil in all its forms. These brave men have vowed to protect humanity and then the god who granted them their powers, Ares, turns against them. Now the warriors must work together if they want to survive.
In this book, River Kassandros, a slave and one of the Spartans, has been forced into his dagger form. River can shape-shift into any weapon his master, Ajax, needs as one of his many talents. River has been thrown into the water and isn’t able to return to his human form. Fortunately for River, he floats passed a woman who can hear his call for help and just may be able to save him.
Emma Lowery has spent her life denying her special ability to hear the call of those who have passed on as well as God and angels. She lost her twin sister as a young child and ever since has closed herself off from anything related to the paranormal. Then one day she hears the voice of a man who says she is the only one who can save him from death. Despite her better judgment, Emma goes out into the water to save this man. As she helps him, she slowly realizes that she can accept the supernatural part of herself and must if she wants the man to survive.
Emma and River have more than just the supernatural to overcome. They both carry hurts and pasts that shape their present. River must accept that Emma can love him despite their disparate backgrounds. Emma must reconcile herself to the fact that being involved in River’s life means using her gifts as well as the new gifts she may acquire.
I really enjoyed this story. I think that Ms. Knight did a wonderful job blending the old world sensibilities with the modern age. She made her characters embrace the Spartan lifestyle while still being able to function in the modern world. I enjoyed the blend of characters. Each of the Spartan warriors is uniquely his own man. They have different wants, needs and desires, but they manage to work together in order to fight evil and demons. The way in which the Daughters of Delphi are tied into the fates of the warriors is a nice addition. It makes the role that mortal women play in the Spartans battle for freedom more believable.
The story is easy to read without too much jargon. I had not read the first book in the series and had no difficulty understanding the construct of the novel or what had happened previously. Background is given as Emma struggles to understand the life that River is a part of so it unfolds naturally without pages being devoted to catching us up.
